3DS

Following Nintendo’s announcement of the 3DS price and release date, the platform holder has released a detailed and exhaustive list of everything that you’ll get when you open that little box come March (hereby renamed ‘Christmas 2.0’ or ‘Christmas 3D’), and some specs on the device itself.

Open up that box and you’ll get the console, a charging stand, an AC adapter, one stylus, a 2GB SD card (to entice you to transfer data from your Wii), six augmented reality cards, and some light bedtime reading material.

Remember, this is intended for a Japanese audience and is probably subject to change. Don’t come crying to us if Nintendo skips the charging stand, or bundles in an extra stylus, come March.

Super Size Me

Here’s all the dimensions for the device incase you want to build a 1:1 replica model, or a snug wooden bed. You weirdo.

Size - 134x74x21mm
Weight - 230g
Upper Screen - 3.53 inches, wide screen, 800x240 pixel resolution
Lower Screen - 3.02 inches, 320x240 pixels

It’s also got three cameras: two on the front (for 3D pics) and one on the inside. They’re all 0.3 megapixels, and take shots in 640x480.

The rest, we’ve known for a while. Alongside a classic D-Pad, the game features a sliding analogue-style pad. You can turn down the 3D effect if you’re struggling to see the picture and you can use 2.4GHz wireless communication to get online or use Tag Mode. (Detailed here).

Keep it on the Down Low

Of course, you’ll also be able to download games from the store - DSiWare style indie games, classic GB, GBC, and GBA nostalgia trips through the Virtual Console and trailers. Don’t worry about losing all your old DSiWare games, as you’ll be able to transfer them across from your DSi or DSi XL.

And, of course, the console plays physical cartridge-based DS and DSi games, too.

The system hits Japan in Februrary, and UK and America in March. It’ll be about £180 to £200.
