China's PSPgo replica the PXP-2000 looks good from afar...

The PSPgo may have only been out a week but in the knock off world that’s an eternity. Hot on the heels of the genuine model is the almost identical looking replica the PXP-2000.

This cheaper Chinese model has the ability to play a host of the most popular video codecs and includes a built-in camera, FM radio, drag and drop MP3/MP4, speakers, MP5 player (what the hell's an MP5? Last I heard it was a German machine gun - ed), SD card slot, and 4GB of built-in memory.

Priced at just $84 and with a slightly larger 4.3″ LCD screen, at first glance this handheld seems too good to be true. And it is.

It won’t be able to connect to the PSN or in fact play any PSP or PS1 games. Essentially the PXP-2000 is a glorified emulator able to play classic games from the NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, SNES, and SEGA Mega Drive consoles.

Currently only available in black, more colours are expected at a later date. It may not be the real thing, but if you happen to love retro games or want to impress friends by appearing to own Sony’s new handheld then China deserves your thanks.

Just don’t let anyone get too close to it or the game's up, so to speak.

For full specs and the opportunity to own this genuine fake, head over to ChinaGrabber (you cheapskate).
