Assassin's Creed sneaking from next-gen to DS?
Gamestop may have let the cat out of the bag
A DS version of Assassin's Creed has appeared with a US price ($29.99), release date (25/9/07), and box art on the website of American games retailers, Gamestop, in what is either a cock-up or some sort of hoax.
With the 1st of April firmly behind us, it appears that the listing is most likely the former, although when the eagle-eyed folks at Yahoo Games contacted Ubisoft, nobody was available for comment. Of course, this may perhaps be because Ubisoft is busy causing heads to roll at Gamestop for accidentally outing an unannounced version of the forthcoming next-gen crusade fest.
Although there were no screens listed on the site alongside the title, the most telling aspect of the revelation is the appearance of box art. With only three months to go until release, the absence of any official announcement or accompanying publicity is conspicuous but this could just as easily be a little something that Ubisoft has been holding back for E3.
