And it burns, burns, burns: The week's new releases

DS + PSP

Oh dear. Just when we were getting along so well, too. Sure, it could be our fiery temper but that doesn't change the fact we've fallen out with handheld release dates.

Yes, again.

It was all looking fabulous last week (well, a little too fabulous, if we're completely honest, but at this time of year we like to loosen our pessimistic ways), yet no sooner had we turned our backs that four titles gave up on their road to retail.

To its credit, Thrillville assures us it's still aiming to get to the shop shelves this year but we've lost all hope for promising PSP duo Prince of Persia Rival Swords and TOCA Race Driver 3 Challenge, now due January 2007. Mind you, that's not as bad as Princess Natasha: Student, Secret Agent, Princess on DS, which has made a royal mess of its release, now expected to be March next year. How we'll miss her.

Still, let's stay positive. There's certainly enough to keep us busy for now, not least with Yoshi's Island DS, Pro Evolution Soccer 6 and the life consuming Football Manager Handheld 2007. And that's just this week.

We'd mention next Friday's hopefuls but that's just playing with fire. At least with the above three we know they are definitely in the shops, so there's no risk of getting burned.
