Allegedly stolen 3DS reveals new technical details
Nintendo lawyer force assemble

New photos and a video of a 3DS allegedly stolen from a Nintendo production line have been leaked to the public. The images and video have apparently come about due to a Chinese worker stealing an unfinished version of the 3D enabled portable. They uncover some interesting details.
One feature revealed by the leak is that the system’s rechargeable battery looks to be the biggest yet on a Nintendo handheld, holding 1,300 mAh of charge compared to the DSi’s 840 mAh.
Whether this extra grunt is simply necessary for the portable to power its new 3D capabilities and also hold a respectable charge is unclear.
The video also reveals how the system has an in-built memory of 96MB, with much speculation now brewing over how much of that will be used to power the 3DS’s operating system (due to the fact that the stolen device had not yet had the OS installed).
The Wii has an OS powered by 88MB of RAM, but many are predicting the 3DS will use 32MB, with 64MB held back for development uses.
The portable looks to have its headphone slot placed centrally at the front of the system instead of at the side, an infrared port for the StreetPass feature, and a charge port docking feature located near the cartridge slot.
These are simply the details taken from this new footage though – there’s nothing to say that this allegedly stolen system isn’t either a fake or unrepresentative of the final product Nintendo will put onto shelves.
The 3DS will be released in Japan in February, while the western world has to wait until March.
