7-inch Kindle Fire tablets now available for UK pre-order, but not the 8.9-inch signature HD device
Available 25 October

Following the announcement of the new Kindle Fire HD family, Amazon has revealed its tablets will now be available outside of the US for the first time.
The entry-level 7-inch 1024x600 resolution Kindle Fire, which is a reworked version of the original hardware with 40 percent better performance, will be available in the UK, priced £129.
Now available for pre-order on a first-come, first-served basics, it will be available on 25 October.
HD smilesAmazon is also releasing some of the Kindle Fire HD tablets internationally.
However, only the 7-inch 1280x800 resolution variants are currently available for pre-order. There's no news about the top-of-the-range 8.9-inch versions, likely because they are going to be hard to manufacture and in more demand in the US.

The 16GB version of the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD is available for pre-order, priced £159, while the 32GB version is £199. Again, they will be available on 25 October.
They'll compete with the Nexus 7, which is currently available priced £159 for the 8GB version and £199 for the 16GB. It runs the latest Jelly Bean version of Android, while Amazon has its own forked version of the tablet operating system.
Of course, Amazon also has its own Appstore, which is completely separate from Google Play.
