3DS becomes the fastest-selling console in Australian history
Things are looking up down under
Nintendo has announced it has sold 200,000 3DS consoles in just 37 weeks in Australia, making it the fastest-selling console in the country's history.
According to figures from the NPD Group in Australia, the handheld not only sold better than its portable counterparts, it also outsold home consoles over the same time period.
Despite initially lukewarm global sales and a worryingly early price drop, the 3DS has had a dramatic resurgence of late.
Core games like Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 seem to have stoked the fires of consumer interest in the run-up to Christmas, helping to propel Nintendo's latest handheld towards record-breaking levels of success.
