New Star GP brings lightweight retro F1 racing to iOS and Android, out now for free

When it comes to the racing genre, it seems that everyone is trying to outdo one another in terms of flashier graphics and more granular physics simulation. Little surprise then that New Star Games, the folks behind Retro Bowl and Retro Goal, are standing out with the newly-released New Star GP Mobile.
As you might expect from their previous catalogue, New Star GP Mobile strips back the formula of this genre to its bare essentials. Gone are the gaudy graphics in favour of slick and stylish low-poly visuals reminiscent of PlayStation classics, revitalised for the new generation and rendered in full 3D.
With its iOS and Android release New Star GP Mobile is far from all-style-no-substance; you can expect New Star GP to cover 50 decades of racing action in its career mode, featuring 176 different events, and 45 distinctive drivers on 17 separate courses, all of whom boast different styles of driving to continuously challenge players.
But that's not all! There are also different weather conditions, track abrasion values (i.e. how long before you need a pit stop) and more to mix up this arcade-style racer. Add onto that 17 separate championships set across tracks from career mode with their own separate rosters and game settings to offer a continous challenge. You can even create your own to build that perfect championship to push you to your limit.
I think it's fair to say that New Star GP is a very exciting launch. As far as pedigree goes, New Star have yet to disappoint, and with this latest release I've no doubt we'll see plenty of pleased fans getting to grips with this new, fast-paced take on the motosport genre.
