Solo indie developer Ben Russell has announced the official launch of Mourning Star, an "existential action game" where you swing the last star across your screen in an attempt to save a dying universe. Using the last star as a flail of some sort, you'll destroy obstacles in your way and discover the truth about yourself as well.

Mourning Star opens with a ghostly figure that has no memory of its past. Struggling with amnesia, you discover only one thing about yourself - that you somehow have the power to restore everything in your doomed universe to its former glory. As you wield the final star across the galaxy, you attempt to create another Big Bang and discover more about life and death in the process.

There are a dozen constellations to explore across the gorgeous night sky, and as you unlock each one, they'll reveal their own Science Fiction parable to you. You can put your skills to the test on Hard mode, or enjoy the narrative in the game's Story Mode. All these can be experienced with an equally existential musical score playing in the background.
