MonTowers ~Legend of Summoners~ free on the App Store for a limited time
Pokemon-style gameplay with adults-only outfits
MonTowers ~Legend of Summoners~ is currently the #1 game in the Japanese App Store.
And to celebrate the milestone, and to lure in new players, developer Buff Stone has dropped the price of its scantily clad dungeon-crawling romp to free for a limited time.
Gotta catch 'em all
In MonTowers, the player assumes the role of a powerful sorcerer who summons one of 200 monsters to fight for him.
Some of these monsters are ferocious-looking, others rather cute/kawaii, and still others are barely covered in revealing outfits that will likely draw unwelcome stares from passerbys.
As such, this may not be the best game to play in your office breakroom or whilst visiting your parents.
Despite the heavy reliance on fan service, the core gameplay of MonTowers is quite solid and entertaining. Players crawl through tower dungeons and master an in-game synthesis system (alchemy) to create new monsters from items and tokens dropped by those they have defeated.
Each monster can be upgraded to its Elder and finally Master form. As the monsters progresses through these stages, their stats - and appearance - change accordingly.
At what price freemium?Yet alchemy in MonTowers requires tokens that are earned through battles in the various tower dungeons of the game.
The droprate of these diminishes - and replenishes - over time. If you are the impatient type, Buff Stone has you covered: you can also buy tokens as an in-app purchases.
