Missile Command: Recharged, the re-imagining of the arcade classic, is available now for iOS and Android

Missile Command: Recharge first appeared on our radars when it was first announced around three weeks ago. It's a collaborative effort between developer Nickervision Studios and Atari. It's also available right now for both iOS and Android.

It's a re-imagining or 'recharged' version of the classic arcade title Missile Command, with this new spin on the game arriving in time for the original's 40th anniversary. The revamp makes use of a cool neon aesthetic and promises intuitive touch controls that will make the game feel right at home on mobile.

If you're unfamiliar with the premise of Missile Command, it's set in a time where warheads are being relentless thrown at your cities. The only way to stop their deadly impact is to gun them down before they collide into your home.

There will be a host of power-ups to make use of that will make your job a little easier and help you survive just a tiny bit longer, which is vitally important if you want to claim the top spot on the global leaderboards. They include silo-repair and a screen-clearing blast for when things get a little too crowded.

You'll also be able to upgrade various stats so that you can better defend your cities. This includes increasing your power, reload speed and rebuilding time. All of which could prove integral to earning those extra few points to jump higher up the leaderboard.

You can check out some of the gameplay for Missile Command: Recharged in the trailer above. It certainly looks very pretty but I do enjoy neon colouring so I'm an easy target for the aesthetic.

Missile Command: Recharged is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
