A blast from the past

Metroid II: Return of Samus hitting the Nintendo 3DS eShop this Thursday

Nintendo announced back in August that excellent Game Boy side-scrolling platformer Metroid II: Return of Samus would be making its way to the Nintendo 3DS's Virtual Console. The Big N wasn't lying.

So, starting this Thursday, you'll be able to download Metroid II: Return of Samus from Nintendo's eShop.

If you were born after 1992, this outer space adventure sees you take on the role of franchise protagonist Samus, who attempts to rid the Metroid home planet SR388 of its alien inhabitants.

The Metroid franchise celebrated its 25th anniversary back in August, and we marked the occasion by taking a look at all of Samus's handheld adventures.

Metroid II: Return of Samus will be available to download from the 3DS eShop this Thursday for £3.60.
