We've been following the development of Luc Bernard's iPhone debut Mecho Wars for quite some time, so it's great to see that it rolled out onto the App Store over the weekend.

Mecho Wars has been pegged as the iPhone's answer to Advance Wars on the DS, with a beautiful looking and fantastical approach to turn-based strategy.

The game involves a rich, story-driven single player campaign as you jump into the exciting war between the Winged Crusade and the Landians. A unique day and night cycle, where the water freezes overnight, adds a superb new angle to movement within the game, while a pass-to-play multiplayer system allows you to battle it out with friends.

Mecho Wars it is a prequel to Bernard's hit game Eternity's Child, so legions of his fans will undoubtedly be queueing at the App Store gates as we speak. If you still need a little convincing, you can check out our interview with Luc Bernard, and see what we thought of Mecho Wars in our exclusive preview.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
