Mare: Pocket Edition, the previously VR-exclusive mystery narrative adventure game, launches for iOS

Previously exclusive to various VR platforms, Visiontrick Media has revealed that it has developed a non-VR mobile version of its adventure game Mare, appropriately entitled Mare: Pocket Edition. Out now, this cinematic adventure game will take you through a narrative full of mystery, brain-teasing puzzles, and a cryptic world full of discovery as you piece together a hazy plot.

Mare is an interesting little game, harkening back to the classic adventure games of yore like Myst, or Gone Home, if you wanted a more modern example. The plot throws you into the strange lands of Mare, as you embody an artificial bird. You’ll venture throughout these lands, discovering both information about Mare as well as why you’re here in the first place by the end of it all.

Throughout this journey, you’ll cross paths with a helpless companion who gives you a bit of purpose, as she is trying to arrive at a certain location to fulfil her destiny, and your goal is to assist her in whatever way you can. As you can probably tell, this story keeps it really vague and full of intrigue, so I’d hate to spoil anything here.

There are 8 chapters in the game, each of which will reveal more and more about the underlying story. On top of this, you’ll spend a lot of time searching for hidden artifacts, which will offer up the game's true ending if you can manage to find them all, though this is no easy feat.

Overall, Mare: Pocket Edition is shaping up to be a return to form for the mystery adventure genre. It’ll bring you right back to the days of Myst playing in the 90s, writing down notes in a notebook and trying to figure out what it all means.

If this sounds like something you’ll dig, you can currently purchase Mare: Pocket Edition for $4.99 at the link below!
