Strategy game Legendary Wars gets massive update and free version with exclusive levels

Castle defence game Legendary Wars has something of the appeal of Plants vs Zombies, albeit requiring a lot of micro-management.

That was the conclusion of Damien McFerran, when he gave it a Bronze award in February.

We're not sure whether the big update the game's going to receive will have tweaked any of his concerns in terms of the controls, but there certainly appears to be plenty of new content.

The level cap will be increased to tier 4 with a new set of armour and weapons for heroes. There'll be a new Arena mode, bonus levels, and hero characters, bosses and monsters.

More important however is the release of Legendary Wars Free, which is a free version containing seven exclusive levels for you to try out. This also presents an introduction to the game's arcade-style mini-games.

"Our goal is to have a game that everyone can truly enjoy, so we built Legendary Wars Free from scratch and made sure it is packed with custom content," said Orian Livnat, Legendary Wars' creator.

"And we can't wait to bring Legendary Wars to the iPad platform in the coming weeks."

Legendary Wars is available now, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p for a limited period (usually $2.99), or check out the Free version.
