Kaiju No. 8 The Game now has a release date for later this month
  • Kaiju No. 8 The Game now has a set August 31st release date
  • You can still pre-register with exclusive characters on the line for one million sign-ups
  • The upcoming release adapts the hit manga and anime from Naoya Matsumoto

For fans of the Kaiju No. 8 series, the upcoming mobile adaptation will be something you've likely watched with keen interest. And if so, you'll be excited to find out we now have a solid release date for August 31st! Not only that, but we've also got a whole new trailer.

Kaiju No. 8 The Game adapts the hit manga series from Naoya Matsumoto, which focuses on the exploits of the Japanese Defence Force in their battle against giant monsters, and an unassuming member who unlocks dramatic new powers that could save the world, or destroy it.

The latest trailer shows off new original characters arriving in the mobile adaptation for Special Unit CLOZER, with Chester Lochburn, Suited and the unit leader Sagan Shinomiya. A whole new storyline is in the works for Kaiju No. 8 The Game that makes it far more than just a retread of the original storyline.

Giant monsters

Clearly, there's a lot of interest too, with over 850,000 players already having pre-registered for in-game rewards, with exclusive four-star and five-star characters on the line for one million pre-registrations. Anime adaptations can be a little bit hit-or-miss, but fans are obviously excited for Kaiju No. 8.

Personally speaking, I'm interested to see how it turns out. But I wouldn't be surprised if some of you are a little sceptical, considering Akatsuki Games (one of the trifecta of devs on this) seemingly abandoned cult hit Tribe Nine earlier this year. Will Kaiju No. 8 go the same way? Here's hoping that's not the case, so keep an eye out for when it hits storefronts come August 31st!

In the meantime, if you want to expand your viewpoint a little, there's no better way than to check out our ongoing series Off The AppStore and find amazing new releases only available on third-party storefronts.
