Isle of Arrows, the latest from Daniel Lutz whose pedigree includes the likes of Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO, has finally received a solid release date after being delayed from its previously estimated Summer launch. It did end up meeting its planned PC release and has found a home there along with a decent amount of success, and the feedback from that version will be used to further develop the mobile port.

Isle of Arrows is a top-down perspective tower-defense game that uses a voxel-esque art style alongside some minimalistic style choices to create a solid vibe that is quite relaxing to look at. Add that in alongside some pretty unique mechanics for the genre and we’ve got a potential hit on our hands, especially with a developer who has had a hand in so many esteemed games of a similar nature.

Some of the cooler features of Isle of Arrows include the card system that will allow you to place down structures based on a deck-like collection of cards. Some of these cards are your fairly standard “put down tower shoot guy” abilities, but others make the typical gameplay loop a little more unique.

For example, the Flag card can be placed at the empty normal terrain tiles surrounding the path you will be defending. Upon placement, this will create more terrain that you can then place more structures on, allowing you to sort of create your own little map to do battle upon.

To further that mechanic, you will also be able to place your own path tiles, so you really end up making your own stage as long as it adheres to having a clear beginning and end for the enemies to spawn and you to defend respectively.

If this unique blend of map creation and tower defense appeals to you, you can currently pre-order the game at either of the links below this article for $5.99 ahead of the November 3rd release date, so get ahead of it while you can!
