Hot Wheels: Rift Rally lets you play a physical RC car in a mixed-reality racing game, out now on iOS

Velan Studios and Mattel have officially launched Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, letting players unleash their inner speed demon in a new mixed-reality racing game. In an ingenious combination of the virtual and the physical, the game lets players craft their own Hot Wheels race track masterpiece in the comfort of their homes.

Available on iOS, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Hot Wheels: Rift Rally boasts engaging high-octane races in which players' own homes can serve as digital raceways where they can use their favourite Hot Wheels vehicles via the Chameleon RC car. As the name suggests, this can digitally transform into a host of variations - more than a whopping 140 kinds, to be exact - including fan-faves such as Twin Mill™, Bone Shaker™, Mach Speeder™, Gotta Go™ and so much more.

Velan Studios is a leader in mixed reality gaming, and with Hot Wheels: Rift Rally they’ve created a Hot Wheels experience that blends digital and physical play in an incredibly imaginative new way,” says Mike DeLaet, Global Head of Digital Gaming, Mattel. “Over the past 55 years, families around the world have created cherished memories with Hot Wheels, and we’re thrilled to further that tradition in the digital space to keep the brand ahead of the curve as it continues to resonate with fans.”

The Campaign Mode lets players put their racing prowess to the test in a variety of challenge maps using the physical Rift Gates, while the Stunt Mode will have players performing sick tricks from daring drifts to bad-ass burnouts for the ultimate high score. Players can also customise their cars' stats, which will reflect on the cars' performance in the real world.

If you're keen on getting your hands on this beauty, the Hot Wheels: Rift Rally Standard Edition is now available for $129.99 a pop or your local equivalent. The Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, will set you back by $149.99, and both are available at www.riftrally.com, Amazon and GameStop. This already includes the Chameleon RC car along with four Rift Gates where you can build your track. As for the game itself, you can download it from the iOS App Store for free.
