Heroic Legends Reborn is the product of two brothers rebuilding an MMO from the ground up
- Heroic Legends Reborn sees a long-dead MMORPG make a surprise comeback
- Crafted from the ground up by two brothers, with the approval of the original devs
- Heroic Legends Reborn offers a throwback experience of social MMO fun
We all get nostalgic for games which other people seem to overlook. For me, it's Two Worlds (yeah, I know), and for two brothers, it's the now fifteen-year-old MMO Heroic Legends! So, what do you do when that game has disappeared? Well, if you're like them, you rebuild it yourself.
With blessings from the original creators and access to the artwork used to create the hand-painted MMO, two brothers known as SonOfBoo and Andepher have recreated Heroic Legends from the ground up. Rechristened as Heroic Legends Reborn, it's slated to arrive on iOS and Android on September 5th.

The legend returns
Now, it's important to note this is not necessarily a world-shaking hidden gem unfairly taken from us too soon. What Heroic Legends Reborn certainly is, however, is a decent-looking throwback to the days of simple, menu-based MMORPG action. And I think there's definitely a place for it, especially with the rather demanding nature of most modern MMOs, especially on mobile. There are duels to be had between players, as well as massive battles spanning multiple days with each player in a guild contributing to a single health pool, as well as a variety of playable races from which to pick.
Certainly, there's a lot here that even more modern, better-looking MMORPGs lack. And with that underdog story behind it, I certainly think it might be worth checking in on Heroic Legends Reborn when it launches later this autumn! Who knows? We might have an unexpected hit on our hands.
But Heroic Legends Reborn will have stiff competition to break through with a larger audience. Simply take a look at our list of the best mobile games of 2026 (so far) to see some of the big hits that have already been released over the past eight months this year!
