With the abundance of card games that are currently on mobile, it's actually surprising that Gwent has never made its way over to phones. Now that's about to change as the card game that started out life as a minigame in The Witcher 3 will be available on iOS on 29th October. You can pre-order on the App Store now.
It's amazing to think how much Gwent has grown since merely being a part of a bigger game. Now it's a fully-fledged game in its own right that even has a thriving esports scene. The iOS port will contain all of the features of the PC version with the only difference being the controls will be optimised for touch.

This means that you'll be able to share your progress and any purchases across devices. Specifically with the PC and iOS versions via a GOG account. Unfortunately, you won't be able to share your data between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gwent.

In terms of compatible devices, you'll need the following models or a later version – iPhone 6, iPad Mini 4, iPad 5th Gen, iPad Air 2 or any iPad Pro. Also if you're rocking one of the higher-spec iOS devices you'll be able to play the game with 4K textures for more high-res goodness.

More details on the game are set to be shared this weekend during a Gwent Masters tournament. If you're interested you can watch the event over on Twitch on 14th September starting at 4 PM CEST.

Gwent will release on the App Store on 29th October and if you're already sold on a portable version of The Witcher card game then you can go ahead and pre-order it right now. It'll be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases, which will likely be the same as the PC.
