First impressions: we take an in-depth look at Gunship Battle: Total Warfare

Having already had great success with its other seafaring strategy series Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War, developer JoyCity is bringing players to a modern time and setting with its latest release Gunship Battle: Total Warfare. Here we take an in-depth look at what’s in store.

Gunship Battle: Total Warfare sets you the task of becoming a respected admiral on the brink of nuclear war, providing you with all the tools needed to build, manage, and battle on the high seas. It’s an MMO first and foremost, so the core gameplay experience involves you battling it out with other players in very tense real time battles.

The story – which can be played alongside friends in co-op – sees you control a wide selection of vehicles on land, sea, and air, all amidst a worldwide conflict. Jets, tank units, and vessels can all be researched and developed on your mission to prevent global annihilation, offering plenty of variety in how you approach each battle.

All of Gunship Battle: Total Warfare’s tactical battles are depicted using full 3D visuals, with each vehicle touting its own unique design model. Players can even take this one step further and camouflage your ships with strategic designs and patterns – all thanks to the game’s added customisation options, which makes sea bouts more personal.

Speaking of making things personal, Gunship Battle: Total Warfare - like all good MMO's - also features an alliance system, where players can band together by joining an alliance and assembling an unstoppable force.

For those just starting out in the game our advice would be to target the closest and lowest level ships known as Armada Warders. These operate as the hub of the various enemy fleets surrounding you, placed in different zones depending on level.

Taking down Armada Warders of a certain level will see you receive victory rewards, which will then allow you to auto battle other Armada Warders of the same level. From there on out, you can concentrate on building up your strength and strategy towards ships of a higher level. Be successful, and you’ll also obtain admiral XP, resources, equipment materials, and memory chip boxes.
