  • Godforge, an upcoming hero collector, has just raked in even more funding
  • It's intended as a massive, cinematic take on the genre, with inspiration from mythology
  • Slated for a 2026 release, this community-driven project could be one to watch

If you're looking for a new hero collector RPG, then you're in luck. Because next year, there may be a new release on the block to keep an eye out for. That's because developer Fateless has just secured even more funding, to the tune of a total $14m, for their upcoming release Godforge, arriving in 2026!

Godforge is, at its core, meant to be a cinematic hero collector RPG. You're probably already a little familiar with this type of genre, as you build a lineup of collectable heroes and pit them against enemies and bosses in turn-based battles. The twist here is the emphasis on a more 'cinematic' style of play and presentation.

Naturally, with a name like Godforge, you'd be forgiven for feeling the inspiration is pretty obvious. But, for those not clued in, the core roster is drawn from much of history and myth across the world. These belong to different factions and will doubtless have some sort of synergy between themselves.

Good god(less)

Having drawn some of its funding from community donations, it's not surprising that the folks at Fateless are emphasising that they want to take player feedback into account with Godforge. Nowadays, it can seem as if developers are increasingly distant from their players, something which creates problems for both. So it's good to see that addressed.

And while the hero collector RPG is a well-trodden genre, what Godforge seems to be setting out to achieve is something akin to a prestige release. With plans for fancy graphics, a slightly more grounded art style and all the good mythological inspiration, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
