Developer Firemint may be living the high life with its supersized Flight Control HD doing great guns on the iPad, but the developer hasn't forgotten its roots.

Firemint will be providing the iPhone and iPod touch versions of Flight Control with an update soon.

A new map, called Windy Airfield, has a wind sock which shows the direction of the alpine breeze, meaning you might have re-route planes in a hurry if the wind suddenly changes. Some of the runways are closed and reopened depending on the wind direction.

The Safe Fast Forward mode (last seen in the iPad edition) will be making its way to the iPhone version, which automatically brings the game back to normal speed if a collision warning sounds. You can kick it into overdrive and lock it to normal fastforward, if you've got the stones.

Other updates include more vibrant colours, shadows, and added map detail, plus game performance improvement and better pathing.

Firemint says it doesn't have an exact date, but it will be touching down soon.

Flight Control is available for iPhone and iPod touch now, for 99c / 59 / €79c.
