Final Fantasy VI's Pixel Remaster will launch for iOS and Android later this month

Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise have reason to celebrate as Square Enix has just announced the launch of the sixth addition to its Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series – Final Fantasy VI, the beloved title from the 90s. It will launch by the end of this month on Steam and mobile in North America. New and old fans can both enjoy this story once again with brand new graphics and audio as a 2D pixel remaster.

Final Fantasy VI originally released in 1994 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and followed the story of The War of the Magi that led to the end of all magic. Humanity, however, rose from the ashes and over the next thousand years, they advanced, relying on technology and machines. But, the antagonists of the game, an evil Empire, came across Terra, a young girl with powers and captured her so that she could be exploited to build weapons.

Fate, however, had other plans and during her enslavement, she meets a young man named Locke. The two join hands and escape the Empire together. This sets up a cataclysm of events that affects countless lives and leads to an inevitable conclusion that you can find out by playing.

Characters in Final Fantasy VI are full of life, each with their own goals and destinies. Using the acclaimed magicite system, players can heavily customize their squad’s abilities, magic spells, and summons. The pixel remaster will feature everything from the original game and will take it a notch higher. The 2D graphics and soundtrack have been universally updated by FFVI’s original artist and composer Kazuko Shibuya and Nobuo Uematsu. Fans can also enjoy improved gameplay with a more polished UI, auto-battling systems, and more.

Currently, pre-ordering Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster on Steam will reward players with a bunch of extra goodies and a 20% discount as well. A bundle containing all six titles is also available. Immerse yourself in one of the most beloved games from the series by pre-ordering Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster for a premium of $17.99 USD on the App Store and Google Play. It launches on February 23rd in North America.
