The best new mobile multiplayer games of 2020

Multiplayer games have had a particularly important role this last year, as so much of the year was spent indoors away from our friends and family. WIth multiplayer games, you can still connect with other humans, despite being far away, and interact and play with them. For me, multiplayer games have been a great way to know that other people are still around and doing things, despite the fact that we can’t quite go out yet. That's why it was important for us to get down our list of the best new mobile multiplayer games of 2020; So you can see the games that have kept us going this year.
As you'll likely know, the selection of multiplayer games out there is massive. There are so many games out there now where you can play, co-operatively or against one another, over the internet (or locally, of course), and that connectivity is the thing that separates them from the rest.
Multiplayer games require your WiFi or mobile data if you're going to play with others from around the world, but beyond that, they come in a mass of different varieties. Some are real-time, others are turn-based and some are even turn-based 'play-by-mail' style, where great lengths of time can pass between turns. There are so many out there that I'm sure that you'll already have, or be able to find, one to enjoy.
So without further delay, head on through the list to find out what the best new mobile multiplayer games of 2020 were.
1
EVE Echoes

With up to 50 people in each fleet, Eve Echoes has you fighting in space, looking to dominate within the universe. You’ll want to build up your team's base while attacking others, making sure you have the greatest ships currently flying and see the most action through space-combat. It’s a bit of an intense game, but with so many different people to play with, I am sure someone can show you your ropes.

2
League of Legends: Wild Rift

League of Legends: Wild Rift has taken the game of LoL from PC and onto mobile devices. In teams of five, versus another team of five, you need to try and be the last team standing. Controlling intense heroes, you can use your special abilities to help the team, knocking down enemy towers and working your way closer to their base. It’s an intense game, with so many games to master, but is extremely fun.

3
Badlanders

A more realistic looking survival game, Badlanders has you facing off against everyone with a weapon, on the map, as you collect items and loot areas, to create better weapons. That’s the main goal in Badlanders - loot and then use that loot to make something new. The game itself works like a battle royale, so you will need to be the best of the best to win.

4
Gumslinger

Gumslinger is a super funky looking game where you face off against one other player in a shooting showdown, however, you are made of jelly! Watch your body wriggle and squirm, especially after you shoot, forcing our arm in a less-desirable aim. The levels are simple - no huge maps here - but the gameplay is casual and fun, and you only need to be better than the one person you are up against!

5
Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra is a collectible card game, where you face off against one other player, making sure that your moves are better than theirs. You will need to keep your deck managed, make sure your moves are perfect, and pick a hero that works well with your strategy. You can level up your hero over time, which can give you a huge advantage in the game!
