Methinks the developer doth clone too much

Have you played Triple Town? Of course you have. Fancy some more of the same but with a slightly different theme?

Dragon Town is the latest Triple Town clone (look, the developer even calls it "The Best Triple Game") to attempt a spin on the match-three-with-a-twist formula.

That formula, for the uninitiated, is as follows. You match three objects on a grid to make a single, better object. You match that single, better object with two more to make an even better object, and so on.

Throw in nuisances, special objects, and an in-app purchase system (of course) and you have yourself a massively popular sub-genre.

Basic ingredients

Dragon Town looks to follow this successful recipe to the letter, but dresses it up slightly differently. As developer Gate9 explains, you have to "combine three soldiers to make one swordsman, three swordsmen to make one sorcerer... until you've filled the board with all highest units."

It's Triple Town with knights and dragons, basically, which sounds alright by us. The graphics look suitably colourful, if a little basic, but, then, that didn't hold its inspiration back at all.

Dragon Town is out now on the App Store for 69p / 99c.
