Disney Speedstorm’s Villainous Ever After update will put villains in the spotlight soon
  • Mother Gothel, Yokai, and Shan Yu join as new racers
  • Star-based progression replaces the old levelling system
  • Adventure Road adds a permanent, map-based progression mode

Heroes have had a good run. It’s about time the villains got the wheel.

Disney Speedstorm has just announced its next update, Villainous Ever After, which is set to release in a few days. And this time, instead of treating the villains as simple side attractions, this update builds an entire update around them.

Mother Gothel, Yokai, and Shan Yu headline the new racers, and they’re joining in the most villainous way possible. Gothel literally sings her way into a speed boost, because of course she does, before flipping roles mid-race.

Yokai floods the track with microbots, turning defence and offence into the same thing. Shan Yu, meanwhile, sends in his falcon to steal your power-ups before charging through on horseback with an avalanche behind him. It’s all very on brand.

And that tone carries across the rest of the update. Mid-season additions like Syndrome and Pete slot neatly into the same space, while new crew members and supercharged racers push the roster further into that chaotic overlap of Disney and Pixar.

There’s some more stuff under the hood. Progression is being reworked into a Star system, replacing levels with something more granular. You’re now collecting fragments through races, stacking smaller upgrades before hitting larger boosts.

Adventure Road is the other major addition. It’s a permanent progression mode that ties specific racers to challenges across a map. There’s also a reworked racing environment, new Vault racers, and some QoL features baked in. But the identity of this update is pretty clear. This is the villain season.

And honestly, it fits. “Mother knows best,” “I never go back on my word,” “I live for chaos”. You can practically hear the quotes as the abilities go off. It’s a friendly reminder that Disney villains have always had more personality when they’re allowed to take centre stage.

Villainous Ever After lands April 9th.

And if you’re planning to jump back in and want to see where these racers land, our latest Disney Speedstorm tier list is worth a look!
