Diablo Immortal's new closed beta will introduce the Necromancer class, controller support and new PvP events

Diablo Immortal will soon host another closed beta test for Android devices with additional features from the initial beta. It will include a new playable class, a host of PvP and PvE events, controller support, and the addition of in-app purchases.

Necromancer

The Necromancer class will join Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, and Wizard as a playable class in Diablo Immortal. Using it, players can revive the dead to fight for their cause alongside inflicting enemies with various curses.

Challenge of the Immortal

Challenge of the Immortal is a new PvP mode being added to the Cycle of Strife. After players successfully defeat the Immortal faction in the Rite of Exile, they will fight against the top-rated player in a 30 vs 1 Immortal battle. To make the fight more even, the Immortal receive a host of new powers and abilities, effectively acting as a player-controller Raid boss.

Battleground ladders

A ladder system will be introduced to the 8v8 Battleground. Here players can fight one another in a bid to reach the top spot. The developers have implemented numerous balance changes to ensure the mode is fair.

Set items and bonuses

Players who reach the end game will be able to grab themselves some new gear through Set Items. These will provide additional bonuses if three and six of the same set are worn together, allowing for more powerful characters and specifically tailored builds for specific playstyles.

The Helliquary

The Helliquary raid bosses can now be challenged with up to eight players, allowing for more strategies. The rewards will also increase.

Controller support

The upcoming closed beta test will also feature limited controller support. Movement and combat can be carried out using a controller, while UI menu navigation will require touch screen input. You can see a list of compatible controllers below:

  • Xbox One Wireless Bluetooth Controller
  • Xbox Series X/S Bluetooth Controller
  • Xbox Elite Controller Series 2
  • Xbox Adaptive Controller
  • Sony Dualshock 4
  • Razer Kishi

In-app purchases

Finally, optional in-app purchases will be available. Testers can purchase the Empowered Battle Pass, Eternal Orbs, and promotional bundles. Player progress will get wiped after the closed beta concludes. However, any in-app purchases will be converted to in-game credits for when Diablo Immortal launches.

Diablo Immortal will eventually release on the App Store and Google Play, with pre-registering open on the latter right now. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
