Milestone moment: Despicable Me: Minion Rush reaches 150 million downloads

Gameloft's mobile movie tie-in Despicable Me: Minion Rush has been downloaded over 150 million times, the publisher has claimed.

The endless runner has also managed to pick up some notable awards along the way, such as the BAFTA Kid's Vote Game of the Year 2013.

"Fantastic reward"

"We're honoured to have received this prestigious award," said Gonzague De Vallois, senior vice president of publishing at Gameloft.

"Despicable Me: Minion Rush was warmly received upon its release, which was already a fantastic reward in itself for all the teams who worked on this project at Gameloft, Universal and Illumination Entertainment.

"The fact that kids chose us attests to the effort we put into creating games that appeal to everyone."

Achieving perfection

Stephanie Sperber, president of partnerships and licensing at Universal, revealed she is proud that the firm was able to create the "perfect game companion".

"This [award] proves the immense popularity of the brand and that we were able to provide the perfect game companion, extending the experience for fans looking to interact with the beloved characters from the film," concluded Sperber.

Gameloft is also trying to maintain momentum, with the company aiming to keep the game fresh by releasing a fifth, festive update, in the near future.
