Dead4Returns is an upcoming multiplayer shooter set in a mysterious post-outbreak world, entering first trial phase this month

Built on Unreal Engine 4, Dead4Returns lets players duke it out in a rowdy multiplayer shooter across a huge and painstakingly detailed map. The multiplayer co-op shooter boasts performance optimisation for mobile devices, as well as high-res firearms and set designs.

Formerly titled Project: Gaia, Dead4Returns features action-packed combat with high-quality graphics and gorgeous-looking environments for players to have all-out shootouts in. It also features an online co-op mode, as well as bigger maps that are currently under development.

The game will supposedly launch its first trial phase this month, and will look into a few experiments on art setups and game design. While there aren't too many details about the game just yet, the quick gameplay trailer embedded below does showcase some promising features about the multiplayer shooter.

It's also interesting to see various records that the devs are releasing over on TapTap - each entry reveals something ominous about the game's story. For instance, one particular report talks about some form of outbreak in the city, as indicated in this mission report:

"The D.M.A. outbreak has been fully contained. The 385 eliminated D.M.A. consisted of 5 Huggers, 12 Meatballs, 2 Rhinos, 2 Miners, 9 Corruptorrs, 3 unidentified D.M.A., and rest were Biters. ** Recovery rate: 34.957%.

The cause for the D.M.A. outbreak remains unknown. It seemed to be a massive random action and contradicted the known D.M.A. behaviors. ****** was found at the scene, but its connection with the D.M.A. outbreak is unclear."
