Last month, Playdigious announced that its popular action-platformer Dead Cells would receive a new piece of paid DLC called The Queen and the Sea this Spring. Today, the publisher has confirmed a specific launch date. It will release for iOS and Android on April 7th for $3.99.

The Queen and the Sea offers an alternative late-game route for players to explore if they've grown tired of scaling the castle walls or dealing with the unpleasant scents that reside within the Distillery. Certainly, the promise of a pleasant sea breeze is much more appealing.

However, battling through a sunken vessel or climbing a massive tower will undoubtedly present a bevvy of tricky challenges. As you progress, you will face the Queen's Guardians, who will put your skills to the test in a bid to stop you from reaching their leader. But even if you do, the queen herself will be no pushover in her boss battle.

New biomes, bosses and enemies aren't all there is to look forward to, though. You will also be able to find a bunch of new weapons to use against the Queen and her minions. They range from a hook hand to a trident to a throwable shark. Yes, you read that right, you can lob Jaws at your foes. You can also grab a new pet and pick up some new threads because looking cool always matters.

To coincide with the DLC's launch, Dead Cells will also receive some new content for free, including a Training Room for brushing up your skills before heading into the fray. On top of that, the Everyone is Here! update will be added. It sees weapons from other games added, including Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Hyper Light Drifter, Guacamelee, Skul, and Curse of the Dead Gods.

Dead Cells is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It is a premium game that costs $8.99. There are also additional in-app purchases for the various pieces of DLC.
