Cryptose disguises its arrival onto iPhone and Android

Insurgent Games has released its new puzzler Cryptose on the Android Market, and is awaiting Apple’s approval having submitted it to the App Store.

The game is built around decoding messages, using logic, deductive reasoning and any spare Enigma Machines you happen to have lying around.

There are thousands of phrases to decrypt as either a spy, detective or hacker (other than aesthetics, though, we’re not sure what key differences exist between the three professions yet).

Know what it is yet?

There’s a hint system for those who struggle with even the kid’s crossword in the newspaper, and there will be a free version to try if you’re not sure whether code breaking is for you.

Founder of Insurgent, Micah Lee has grandiose expectations for the game, saying “I wanted to make a game that helps people learn about encryption. Cryptography is important to freedom.”

Presumably, he was then elbowed by the PR guy, adding “It's also fun.”

Have a look at the video and screens for a taste of what's to come (or the source code, if that's too obvious for you).
