Clash of Clans could be coming to the big screen, as Supercell is hiring for film and TV
  • Supercell could be planning to bring their top properties to the big screen
  • A hiring call has gone out for a senior film and TV development executive
  • Finnish dev Rovio famously brought their Angry Birds to movies way back in 2016

Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be coming to the big screen? Well, it's more likely than you think as the venerable Finnish mobile developer has started putting out the call to hire a senior film and TV development executive. So could they be going the way of Rovio in making the move to movies?

It's certainly not impossible, but as noted by our sibling site PocketGamer.biz, the job description isn't just for this new hire to start building this immediately. Instead, it calls for building a strategy for live-action and animated film, theatrical and streaming distribution.

Business lingo aside, that means this is more a watch-and-wait sort of role. Although I would hazard a guess they're already drawing up a basic outline of how they would do it if Supercell indeed decides to pull the trigger on going into film and-slash-or animation.

Clash for the ages

Right now, Supercell has been breaking some unspoken barriers with their catalogue, such as going full dive into the world of crossovers and collabs, such as with the WWE. With that in mind then it definitely seems like a natural next move for the developer.

Despite the gap between Clash of Clans' initial release and now, it's worth noting that the uber-successful Angry Birds movie was released around seven years after the original. So while a lot of time may have passed, Clash definitely still has an audience, and Supercell does have the occasional new IP like Mo.co they could leverage into a more kid-focused release.

We'll just have to wait and see to find out how this develops. And if you need something to keep you occupied in the meantime why not check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
