Astraware has unveiled its latest smartphone game, Bubble Babble, which is coming out for Palm OS and Windows Mobile smartphones and PDAs.

It's an underwater puzzler that sees you linking bubble letters together to form words, so should please anyone who's a fan of mobile games like PopCap's Bookworm.

You score points for each word you make, scoring more for complex or unusual words – as judged by a fishy host called Wordsworth Smartygills. We're not sure if you get top points or no points for swearwords, mind.

The game includes four modes, with Challenge pitting your wordmaking skills against the clock, while Target has you trying to reconstruct a specific word from the bubbles.

Mystery sees you trying to find a single hidden word at a time, while Freeplay offers a more relaxed take on Challenge, boosting your score without worrying about the clock.

It sounds like a great casual puzzler, and judging by Astraware's recent activities it could be heading for Symbian handsets soon, too. For now, you can buy the Palm and Windows Mobile versions here.
