BLUE LOCK Project: World Champion, a new soccer-based action game based on the anime series, launches for Japanese audiences

Japanese studio RUDEL has released their latest project within Japan exclusively - BLUE LOCK Project: World Champion. Of course, if you’re at all interested in anime, you’ll know that this one is based on the titular BLUE LOCK manga/anime series that has been quite popular lately. Centred around intense and egotistical soccer, BLUE LOCK sees a wide array of various characters participating in what is essentially a soccer battle royale combo.

BLUE LOCK is a big series currently, given the anime is within the seasonal rotation, and rightfully so. It’s an action-packed adrenaline-and-hype-fueled sports anime that centres around soccer players who are all placed within an intensive training machine, having to be their very best to come out on top and become the world’s best striker.

World Champion seeks to take that experience from the anime and manga alike, emulating it into an interesting little gameplay loop. The story of the game will follow the series to a tee, allowing players to experience the narrative within World Champion itself, but the actual match-to-match gameplay is where it all shines.

During matches, you’ll control the protagonist Isagi as he makes decision after decision in-game to break past his rivals and coordinate with his teammates to win every matchup. This is translated into gameplay by making you choose what type of kick to do when squared off against an opponent or pass, while also utilising your teammate’s special abilities to come out on top. Every choice has a time limit, so the pressure will always be on to find out the best play in the shortest amount of time possible.

On top of this, there are also RPG elements in character growth, as you can up Isagi’s skills and make him become a true god-like player, able to crush the stronger and higher-ranked players with ease.

So, whether you're a fan of the anime series or someone who wants a really exciting soccer-based anime RPG, this is the one for you. Give it a go for free at either of the links below!
