Black Stella: Ptolomea, the sequel to the troubled Black Stella In:Ferno, reveals a new key image and a closed beta start date

The Black Stella property has returned after an unfortunately short-lived existence under the mobile RPG Black Stella In:Ferno back in 2022. This new project seeks to exist in the same universe as its predecessor and hopes to revive the interest that the unique gameplay and moodier visuals first had back when In:Ferno did launch.

You likely aren’t very familiar with Black Stella, as the only game released within this property was that 2022 mobile release. On top of this, the game saw little to no success upon launching, which caused it to shut down only a few months after releasing. As of September 2022, In:Ferno ceased to exist, and did not have a very long time to prove itself.

To make things even more confusing, In:Ferno was then relaunched with its subtitle with support from a new developer, Cyberstep, who brought it together a decent bit. Still, the game was never too huge of a success with all of the strange development troubles it had, so it came as a bit of a shock when it was announced a sequel would be released.

That brings us to today, where Black Stella Ptolomea has been announced. This new entry into the series hopes to take In:Ferno’s multiplayer tower defence-based gameplay and enhance it to the degree that it can match up to other triple-A anime games.

Ptolomea’s story takes place 50 years in the future, where a giant crater has swallowed up part of Japan, and various creatures have begun springing forth. From there, it’s up to you to command a team of unique characters to do battle with them.

Black Stella as a whole features a pretty distinct edgy and darker style that makes it hard to miss, and some unique gameplay mechanics on top of that, combining the traditionally single-player nature of tower defence games with multiplayer battles.

If that sounds interesting to you, Ptolomea will be hosting a closed beta test near the start of May, which you can find details on at the official website. In the meantime, you can also check out the official Twitter account for other announcements as well.
