Beneath a Steel Sky 2 is getting made after all - and it's coming to iOS and Android
$800,000 is close enough
If you can remember back to about, oh, five hours ago you'll recall that Revolution Software had attained $800,000 through Kickstarter for its Broken Sword 5 project.
That was double the amount it needed to get the point-and-click sequel off the ground - cue joy and whooping.
Unfortunately it fell short of the $1m mark at which Revolution would commit to making another point-and-click sequel, Beneath a Steel Sky 2 - cue misery and self harm.
But wait! Quit gnashing those teeth. Revolution's going to make Beneath a Steel Sky 2 anyway.
Revolutionary talk"We're delighted by the recent level of interest in a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky," said the developer, "and are currently discussing design ideas for this project which we plan to go into development following the release of Broken Sword - The Serpent's Curse."
The original Beneath a Steel Sky (pictured) was originally launched in 1994. It's notable for featuring artwork by Dave Gibbons of Watchmen fame.
We gave the 2009 iPhone port a PG Silver Award and praised it for "galvanising the adventure gaming resurgence on iPhone."
Beneath a Steel Sky 2 will be developed for iOS and Android alongside the expected PC and OS X platforms.
