Ball x Pit's Naturalist update challenges you to take on a no-passives run with free content

• Ball x Pit gets its next major update this week with The Naturalist
• Two new characters, The Ballbearer and The Hoary Hoarder offer two all-or-nothing playstyles
• Blast your way through enemies with even more balls and power-up with additional passives

Ball x Pit's newest free update is set to draw both returning players back into this wacky dodgeball roguelite, as well as offering even more content for new players to sink their teeth into. Hot off the heels of The Shadow update, The Naturalist adds two new characters, dodgeballs and passives to fuel your next run.

The first of the characters sets the tone for the update, as The Ballbearer boasts double the number of ball slots but has to give up any ability to hold passives for the privilege. Meanwhile, the Hoary Hoarder goes in the opposite direction with only two ball slots, but double the number available for passives, allowing for some truly dizzying combinations.

Naturally, with Ball x Pit being so focused on, well, balls, you need more additions to the catalogue to make use of. Lightning Bug spawns fireflies which zap enemies, the Drill pierces through enemies, and Armageddon calls down a shower of meteors to cause enormous damage.

Of course, with new balls also come new passives. Platinum Dumbbell offers a passive increase to damage so long as your ball doesn't hit the back wall, while Remote Detonator allows you to pick and choose when to send your opponents to the netherrealm.

All in all, for a free update it's a pretty hefty one. And while some players have complained about the touchscreen controls in comparison to the original, successive updates seem to have smoothed that out. So it could well be worth checking out Ball x Pit for yourself if you never had the chance!
