In many ways, solitaire is made for touchscreen-toting mobile phones. Clicking and dragging cards into piles feels much more intuitive than other methods (we're hoping Apple will get someone to develop the perfect solitaire game for iPhone).

Astraware's new game doesn't work on Apple's phone yet, but it is being released for Palm OS and Windows Mobile smartphones.

Astraware Solitaire features 12 variants of the popular card game, including Klondike, Pyramid, Spider and Freecell. Each variant lets you tweak the settings to cater for your preferences (we hope this includes a 'cheat with impunity if you get stuck' mode). The game has two control methods, too: one for stylus-enabled phones, and another using more traditional keypads.

The game will have all manner of personalisation, letting you set the backgrounds, colour schemes and card designs of your choice. Plus there's a reward system that gives you new options in these three areas the more you play the game.

The game's out now from Astraware's website, with a $10 saving if you buy it before the end of June.
