Last week, NetEase Games began pre-registration for a closed beta test for its upcoming post-apocalyptic MMORPG, Ashfall. It is set to release later this year on mobile and PC, and this playtest would be the first time fans get to try out the game. Those selected via the recruitment survey can download the title and start exploring.

Like it is with these tests, everything will not be available in Ashfall’s CBT. Players are allowed to progress through the single-player story until level 40. Other than that, they can try out four multiplayer modes, four single-player Secret Realm maps, one guild Secret Realm, and one PvP map. The short trailer embedded below gives a good look at all the inclusions.

Other features that are available include a talent combination system, that allows players to use the skill tree, as well as craft, match, and improve equipment in the town. In addition, players can also enhance their combat style by drawing, equipping, and overclocking chips, while also employing companions for support.

If you haven’t heard about the game yet, Ashfall takes place in a dystopian future, where the planet has been ravaged by rogue AI. Their hostile takeover of the planet led to a nuclear war, wiping out pretty much all of existence. Only a few survivors remain, and players will control one of them. The goal is to find the Core of Creation, the only object that can save what’s left of the Earth.

Interested players can pre-register for Ashfall by visiting the official website. The current CBT will run until August 19th. In case you missed out on this one, NetEase will probably host another one in the near future. Until then, you can join the community of gamers and get all the latest updates by following Ashfall’s Facebook page.
