37GAMES was due to launch its zombie-themed strategy game, First Refuge: Z, today in several countries, but it seems the game has now been delayed until 30th June according to the App Store listing.

A cinematic trailer for the game was released in March, which you can see below, along with the announcement that the game is available for pre-order on the iOS App Store. Despite the delay, it seems that pre-orders are still available so not much has changed there.

If you’re unaware of what it is, First Refuge: Z is a survival game where you build and customise an underground city to shelter the remnants of humanity from hordes of zombies that have overwhelmed the world’s surface. The game features a creative combination of underground shelter building, zombie hunting mechanics and strategic war game elements in a way that the developer says will be unlike any other mobile games of its type.

In the world of First Refuge: Z, you construct these underground cities by building rooms with different functions where residents can live safely. You must assign them to perform different jobs and develop relationships with each other. It’s not too dissimilar from a game like Fallout Shelter if you’ve played that.

But there’s more to it than that, as there’s a combat system present in the game too. You must defend your settlement from the oncoming zombie hordes using a diverse and varied set of heroes.

First Refuge: Z is already available to download on the Google Play store, so if you’re an Android user you can already start building your underground zombie shelter. iOS users will unfortunately have to wait a little longer to check the title out.
