Why are we writing about the Among Us color someone might ask? Stay awhile and listen...Among Us is a game that's been widely acclaimed in 2020, gaining mass popularity worldwide. The game had millions of downloads, and it's easy to understand why if you've played a game. Its deduction and perception mechanics keep the game always fresh, no matter how many times you've played it.
But there is always more to the game than meets the eye. Each player can customize their character, and it's been widely speculated that certain Among Us colors carry a certain meaning (like the Red is sus memes that we're all too familiar with). But is Red really sus? And why is Green always a Crewmember when he's actually killed me two games in a row? Find out more about the Among Us colors and the meaning behind them below!
All the Among Us colorsThere are 14 colors in Among Us, but only 12 of them can be actively selected and customized by the players. I'll explain more about them below, so let's take a look!
- Cyan (Light Blue)
- Lime (Light Green)
These are the 12 main colors. There are an additional 2 colors that players cannot actively select, but have been in the game nonetheless:
Fortegreen has been used in the green when a player has just connected and shows the player's name as "???". As for the Tan color, it's the only color that has been removed. The main reasoning behind its removal is the fact that colorblind people were unable to distinguish between other colors and Tan, making it more difficult to play the game.
Is Red always sus in Among Us?Contrary to popular belief, Red is not always the impostor. There's been a plethora of memes and posters advertising Red as the main impostor, but it's really not the case. Every color has the same chance of being the good guy (or the bad guy, depends on how you see it).
It's widely believed that Red has been chosen as the impostor for its opposition to Green, which is often portrayed as the main Crewmate - which, again, is not always the case.
Blue, the incognito - Among Us colorsBlue is in the opposite boat as Red. They are almost never suspected, and might just use everything to their advantage and try to support others, all while carrying their (sometimes devious) plan. They could be fun, but never truly trust a blue - they know exactly what they're doing!
The emergency meetings caller, GreenGreen is often a clever individual, who tends to be quite sneaky. They often get targeted as the impostor and might even get thrown own on suspicion of being one. However, when they're left on their own, they know exactly what to do and how to manipulate the situation in their favor.
Pink - most likely the first victimSince Pink doesn't always seem threatening, many players tend to just kill Pink the first chance they get. Very often they are the first to go out, no matter if they're a Crewmate or an Impostor.
Orange, the coin flip - Among Us colorsWhen you play with an Orange, you'll either get the best player in the world or the worst - there's no in-between. They could have some very sound reasoning, and be either super peaceful or the most aggressive impostor you've ever met. They're definitely one to remember!
The leader or the lone wolf, known as YellowYellow players don't always make very memorable impressions. They are quite solitary and tend to stay away from everything and everyone. No matter if they are a crewmate or an impostor, Yellow is almost never the first one to go - some people might even forget there even exists a Yellow!
Players' most voted: BlackIf you had to close your eyes and pick a sus, chances are you'd pick Black 7 out of 10 times. Players usually tend to think Black is the impostor more often than they actually are! On the rare occasion, they sometimes do make it out alive, but no matter the case, they are always in style!
The failed detective, WhiteWhite players are either spending their time on cams, trying to sabotage, or simply hanging around in the vents. Sadly, they're also some of the first players to go out since they don't always do what they're supposed to. From time to time, you will meet a player who will leave you speechless with their clever tactics, but that is quite a rare occasion.
Purple, the pseudo-susIn a way, Purple is very similar to Red - however, they almost never get suspected (even if they're actually an impostor). They have been portrayed as one in a couple of promo material, and that was enough to pave the way for this pseudo-sus.
The trustworthy pal, BrownBrown is almost always a good guy - even if they're an impostor. They are friendly, but not too talkative, helpful but not overbearing, and know exactly where to be (except when they get killed). But all that facade quickly fades once they stab you in the back when you least expect it!
Cyan a.k.a. the proAlmost all the Cyan players I've met have been really good at the game. They know their tasks and don't falter when it comes to taking important decisions. It's like you have a mini-brain on your team, as long as they truly are on your team. Also, don't call them blue.
Lime - Cyan's toxic sideSimilar to Cyan, Lime players know what they're doing. However, they do it in such a way that you want to kick them straight out of the ship and into space. If only it wasn't for all the work they've done to earn their place... Of course, there are the normal Limes too, but they're a rare sight!
To sum up, these are all the colors in Among Us. Which one is your favorite? For myself, I'm always a Brown or Purple player. As for the Red is sus, I can't agree more (if you know, you know)!
