Moonlight Rhapsody is a new Castlevania mobile game from Konami and Shengqu Games
Testing to begin this year in China
Less than a month after announcing the cancellation of Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, Konami has revealed an all-new Castlevania mobile game currently in development at Shengqu Games.
Moonlight Rhapsody (likely Castlevania: Moonlight Rhapsody), is a side-scrolling actioner that is said to innovate on the earlier games in the long-running series. A brief trailer was shared widely earlier today by Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad.
We get a brief look as some combat and concept art, and, yeah, it looks like Castlevania. I'm interested to see just how different to Grimoire of Souls this will be. Hopefully there's no tacked-on multiplayer.
Regardless, I'd just be happy to see Moonlight Rhapsody stay alive long enough to get a global launch. Testing is currently expected to begin in China this year.Chinese games company Shengqu Games will co-operate with Konami to develop and release a new Castlevania mobile title called 'Moonlight Rhapsody". While Konami is now the butt of many a joke in the West, its mobile games have generally proven popular. The Tencent-developed Contra: Return is now into its fourth year and, as pointed out in an earlier tweet by Ahmad, has consistently placed in the top 50 highest-grossing iOS games in China since launch.
