Sky: Children of the Light hits 20 million downloads ahead of its 1-year anniversary celebrations

thatgamecompany's gorgeous Sky: Children of the Light will hit its first anniversary soon and there will be a host of in-game events to celebrate alongside a new Adventure Season. The developers – who also created Journey and Flower – have also unveiled that Sky: Children of the Light has been downloaded a noteworthy 20 million times.

This is particularly impressive given that the game only launched for Android earlier this year in March, where it has since been downloaded 5 million times. Sky: Children of the Light is also slated to release for Nintendo Switch later this year.

The first anniversary week will take place from 13th July to 19th July where there will multiple events for existing and new players alike to take part in. More details about what this will involve will be announced on 13th July across Sky's various social platforms.

We do know, however, that during the first anniversary in-game events players will be able to snag themselves a 1-Year Anniversary hat in exchange for some hearts. There will also be a plethora of birthday-themed festivities and decorations.

Elsewhere, there will be a new adventure coming to the game soon called the Season of Sanctuary. This will take place in a vacation-style island located in the Daylight Prairie Realm. Players can expect to meet new seasonal characters, each with their own backstories to discover and of course, there will be collectables too. Sky: Children of the Light is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
