Sweet Sins Superstars is an anime-inspired rhythm game that has entered Early Access for Android

Sweet Sins Superstars is the latest game from Platonic Games, a Spanish developer that aims to fill the mobile world with as many kawaii games as humanly possible. Their latest is a rhythm-action game and it's available now for Android in Early Access.

Being an anime-inspired game, Sweet Sins Superstars needs to have an appropriately silly story to get on board with. A bunch of evil princesses, led by the notorious Queen of Silence, are trying to destroy Musicalia in an attempt to rid the world of music. To stop them, you'll have to battle them with the very thing they hate. Sounds appropriately anime to me.

The gameplay itself looks to be fairly straightforward as far as rhythm-action games go, as you can see in the trailer above. There appear to be only two on-screen buttons you'll have to alternate between or tap simultaneously as you try and time your taps to perfection.

As you can hear, there are a variety of different genres you'll be tapping along to that include Jpop, rock, electro swing, EDM, house and many others. Likewise, there will also be a variety of different characters – more than 20 – to play as with each having unique skills that you'll be able to level up as you progress. My personal favourites are any that have a keyboard/scythe weapon cos I love a good scythe.

There are also little round, rotund animal creatures to collect called Miimos. Since I've not played the game yet, I have no idea what they do, beyond looking adorable. They are described as being powerful, however, so I suspect they'll have some kind of passive effect that aids your characters in battle.

Sweet Sins Superstars is available now over on Google Play in Early Access. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
