Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells is a match-3 puzzler now available in soft launch

Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells is the latest title from mobile game behemoth Zynga. It's a match-3 puzzler that features fan-favourite characters from J.K. Rowling's beloved series of children's books, and it's now soft-launched in the Philippines.

Puzzles and Spells is being published under the Portkey Games label, from which Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite also spawned. It aims to deliver innovative match-3 puzzle gameplay set within the Wizarding World, with a good amount of spell-casting and magical mischief to enjoy.

Interestingly, you'll create your own persona and level them up by earning experience points through daily events. These can be used to unlock magical abilities and special rewards. Spells and skills can also be levelled up to increase their effectiveness.

If you're feeling social, there's the option to form clubs and partner with other players to take part in co-op activities. All of this plays out across an adventure filled with some of the series' most iconic moments. I'm honestly surprised that it's taken this long for Harry Potter to get its very own match-3 puzzler. I'm sure it'll be a solid and polished example of the genre, given Zynga's past work, but I can only get so excited for another riff on Candy Crush.

If you're interested in checking it out and happen to be based in the Philippines, you can give Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells a little go. More info can be found over on Zynga's official site. The game's set to launch globally at a later date for both iOS and Android.

In other Zynga news, we recently covered the third Merge Dragons! x Rick and Morty crossover event. It sees you exploring a mysterious realm full of demonic bovines. Scary stuff.
