Every day here at Pocket Gamer we like to make you aware of one thing - and that one thing is all the awesome mobile and portable games that you should be playing. To that end, every day we choose a game that you might have missed from the annals of mobile gaming history and tell you about it. It's our Game of the day initiative, and you're engaging with it right now thanks to this excellent content.
Today's choice is a lot less action-oriented that our previous ones - it's the brilliant and meditative farming simulation The Stillness of the Wind. If you smash a click right here you'll be able to discover all of the games that have received this prestigious award at our Game of the day hub. And you definitely should, because there are some absolute gems there and no mistake.
Now that's all out of the way, let's get on with talking about today's pick.
The Stillness of the Wind
Where other games about the end of the world have you shooting everything in the face to try and stop it, The Stillness of the Wind is about life at the end of days. The world is collapsing, but you're only a small part of it - an old goat farmer left behind by a family that's moved to the city.
You go about your daily business, getting water from the well, eggs from your chickens, and feeding your flock. You need to make cheese from the milk the goats make, and sell it to buy the things you need to stay alive. The only contact you have with the rest of the world comes in the shape of letters delivered by a postman who pops by every day.
When we reviewed the game we said "this is an essential purchase no matter what platform you're buying it on. It works amazingly on mobile, and it will stay with you long after you've come to the end. We need more games like that, and more games that push us to exist in spaces that we maybe haven't considered before."
