If you were wondering what the best-reviewed iOS and 'droid games on the web last month were, here are the iPhone Quality Index, iPad Quality Index, and Android Quality Index round-ups for February to fill you in.

The iPhone, iPad, and Android Quality Indexes boast over 650,000 reviews (in total) from websites like 148Apps, Pocket Gamer, and IGN, and use a unique metric to create a single definitive score for each iOS and Android title.

Threes! is the magic number

Threes! tops Qi's iPhone (and iPad) game chart for February with a clever new take on the number puzzler.

The idea here is to match up numbered cards on an increasingly cramped game grid.

Just behind that is Final Fantasy VI, perhaps the most hotly anticipated series conversion yet.

There's been a little consternation over its new 2D visuals, but there's no disguising the JRPG magic underneath.

At #2 this month on the iPad Qi leaderboard is Out There, which couldn't be much more different from Threes! if it tried. Developer Mi-Clos Studio's game is a melancholic sci-fi adventure built on hundreds of life-or-death decisions. Lower down the table, meanwhile, Eliss Infinity supplies more challenging and inventive multi-touch puzzles. And beyond?

In the runner-up spot on the Android rundown this month is Pixel Dungeon, a fabulously stripped-back roguelike adventure game with random levels and permanent death.

It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.

Helidroid 3, by contrast, is an enjoyably light-hearted flight simulator with some serious physics and flight systems.

Take control of a range of toy helicopters - some of which are armed to the teeth. Honestly.

N.B. While we only display the average score to one decimal place, the lists are generated to further significant figures. We just don't show them all. And, naturally, these are static graphs based on live listings which are subject to constant change as new releases and reviews emerge.

In order to provide a regular marker of the critical zeitgeist, however, we will continue to round up the best of the iOS and Android games released each month to provide the definitive Quality Index top tens.
