With the PS4 launching globally this month, Sony has ensured that your PS Vita is ready with the new 3.00 update.

Downloadable now, this new software update adds the PS4 Link app. This allows for Remote Play between your PS4 and Vita, as well as Second Screen connectivity between the handheld and home console.

Remote Play lets you stream and play PS4 games on your Vita. Sony has stated that Remote Play works best if both consoles are on the same network, and the PS4 is connected via ethernet with the being Vita close by.

We noted yesterday that Battlefield 4 will support Remote Play from launch on the PS4. Sony hopes for most PS4 games to support Remote Play, except those that require peripherals.

As the title suggests, the Second Screen feature of the app allows you to use your Vita as a second screen for select PS4 games.

Second screen will also be available for those who download the upcoming PlayStation app for iOS and Android devices.

As the accompanying video demonstrates, the update also adds plenty of other minor features to your Vita.

These include a parental controls app for the home screen, a panoramic camera setting, a new layout to the friends app, the ability to sync e-mail contacts, and plenty more as detailed in the 3.00 update video.
