Lego Legends of Chima: Speedorz zips onto the App Store

On Thursday, Lego released Lego Legends of Chima: Speedorz which is the first of three games planned around its new Legends of Chima products.

The free racing game is packed with the usual Lego game studs and bricks, and manages to keep an air of tongue-in-cheek humour despite its more serious setting.

In Speedorz, you can only choose to race as a generic wolf-man 'Warrior' or Leonidas (think Lion-O from Thundercats and you won't be far wrong) in one of three races: The Tribal, Royal, or Super Cup.

At time of release, however, only the Tribal Cup is available while the other two cups are listed as "coming soon".

Players can unlock additional characters and racing carts by collecting familiar multi-colour Lego studs during races. Refreshingly, the only way to collect studs is by actually playing through the courses: there are no in-app purchases in Speedorz.

The next planned game for The Legends of Chima franchise – Laval’s Journey – will come out for the 3DS and PS Vita this summer, before launching for the DS in the autumn.
